A nice website is not the same as a useful one
Most MSP owners have seen it. A website that looks modern, has a slick design, and feels “professional”… but the enquiries do not follow.
That is because design alone does not sell. A website that sells is built to guide a prospect from interest to action. It answers the questions they are already asking, removes doubt, and makes it easy to take the next step.
A nice website is often built around what the MSP wants to say. A selling website is built around what the prospect needs to understand.
What a “nice” MSP website usually focuses on
A nice website tends to focus on appearance first. Strong visuals, big hero images, polished animations, and a lot of effort put into making it look impressive.
The copy is often vague because it is trying to appeal to everyone. You will see lines like “tailored solutions” and “trusted technology partner” without explaining what that means in real terms.
Nice websites also tend to hide the important details. Pricing is missing. Proof is buried. The next step is unclear. The visitor is expected to figure it out.
And most visitors will not.
What an MSP website that sells focuses on instead
A selling website is clear within seconds. It tells the prospect who you help, what you do, and what to do next. It does not make them work.
It also builds trust quickly. It shows proof early, not hidden away. It uses testimonials, client logos, reviews, certifications, and real examples to back up the claims.
Most importantly, it is built around the prospect’s decision-making process. It answers the questions that stop people from getting in touch, such as:
- Are you a fit for a business like mine?
- What is your response like when things go wrong?
- How does onboarding work?
- What makes you different from the MSP down the road?
- What will this cost, roughly?
- Can I trust you?
When your website answers those questions, it does the selling before the call.
The biggest difference is the next step
A nice website often has a “Contact” link in the menu and hopes people will use it.
A selling website has a clear next step on every key page. Book a call. Request a quote. Get a free assessment. Whatever your main conversion is, it is obvious, repeated, and easy to complete.
It also reduces friction. Short forms. Clear expectations. A simple process. No dead ends.
Nice websites talk about features. Selling websites talk about outcomes.
MSPs often list tools and services. Monitoring, patching, Microsoft 365, backups, firewalls, EDR.
Prospects do not buy tools. They buy outcomes. Less downtime. Faster support. Lower risk. A team that can work without constant IT headaches.
A selling website translates what you do into what it means for the client. It uses plain English and focuses on the result.
How to tell which one you have
If your website looks good but you are not getting consistent enquiries, it is usually one of these issues:
- Your message is unclear or too generic
- You do not show proof early enough
- Your calls to action are weak or hidden
- Your service pages explain what you do, but not why it matters
- Your site does not answer the real questions prospects have
- It feels polished, but not personal
The fix is rarely “make it prettier.” The fix is usually clarity, proof, and a better journey.
